U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference to discuss Ukraine's security, as well as deepening defense and economic cooperation between Washington and Kyiv.

Rubio wrote on X that President Donald Trump seeks a solution that "ends the bloodshed once and for all."

Zelensky posted on X that the conversation focused on the war front situation, Russian attacks and their consequences on Ukraine's energy system, assistance for Ukraine to defend itself during the winter cold, and strengthening resilience. He added that they also discussed the diplomatic process and trilateral contacts.

"It is important that the planned negotiations in Geneva be fruitful, and I thank the United States for their constructive approach," Zelensky said.

Trump's special envoys and the Ukrainian delegation are scheduled to meet in Geneva on Wednesday to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. These talks will coincide with discussions between Iranian and U.S. delegations in Geneva over Iran's nuclear program.
