Credibility Assessment
Cites named officials from Ministry of Public Works and contracting company head with direct involvement, plus multiple named local residents providing specific quotes on impacts. Article includes concrete details like 30 km length, 9 m width, 347 million Afghanis cost, 16-month timeline, and 1,000 jobs.
Ajristan and Malistan are two districts in Ghazni province where the Ministry of Public Works has begun the reconstruction and graveling of a 30-kilometer road connecting these two districts via the Kotul Khun pass. The cost of this project is estimated at nearly 347 million Afghanis. According to officials, the project will be completed in 16 months and will provide employment for 1,000 people.
Abdul Qadir Bilal, Head of Public Works in Ghazni, said about this: “This is one of the most important roads in Ghazni province. In winter, many residents of the Ajristan, Malistan, Nawur districts, and even people from Daikundi face problems. With the completion of this road, their challenges will be resolved.”
Mohammad Qazi Niazi, Head of the contracting company, added: “This road connects the Ajristan and Malistan districts. The length of the road is 30 kilometers and its width is 9 meters, and it passes through the very difficult Kotul Khun route.”
Local residents say that due to the complex terrain of the area and the poor condition of the roads, they face serious challenges, and in many cases, they cannot transport patients to health centers. They hope that with the completion of this road, their travel problems will be reduced.
Mohammad Nabi, a resident of Ajristan, said: “In winter, snow falls on this route for five or six months. The name of this pass ‘Kotul Khun’ is because anyone who has a sick person on this road faces challenges, and we have lost many people here.”
Mohammad Anwar Mohaqiq, a resident of Malistan, said: “Building this road will create a lot of facilities, especially for the people of Ajristan whose route was blocked. Their way will become shorter and travel will become easier.”
Ajristan, Malistan, Nawur, and Jaghori are mountainous and remote districts of Ghazni that are between 100 and 160 kilometers from the provincial center. Residents of these areas face serious problems due to poor roads and demand more attention from officials.
Jomakhan, a resident of Malistan, added: “Now the road is dry and problems are fewer; but in winter if it snows, passing through this route becomes almost impossible.”
On the other hand, officials from the Ghazni Public Works Department say that in the near future, in addition to the major reconstruction of roads in the Jaghori and Malistan districts, the graveling and leveling of roads in some other districts will also begin.
