
Pakistan Follows Up on China Meeting with Afghanistan, Emphasizes Doha Commitments
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry is following up on recent talks with Afghanistan held in China, emphasizing the importance of security and adherence to commitments made in the Doha agreement. The ministry stated that all avenues for dialogue between the two sides remain open.
Security concerns form the main axis of Pakistan's discussions with Afghanistan. Islamabad is requesting written guarantees from the Afghan government on this matter.
Tahir Andarabi, a Pakistani political figure, underlined that the fundamental principle in these engagements is for Afghanistan to fully adhere to the commitments it undertook in Doha.
Mian Iftekhar Hussain, another political figure, said that the existing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan must come to an end, adding that dialogue is the only means to resolve them.
Expert Hamayatullah Ahmadi viewed the China meeting as a positive development. He said dialogue, potentially supported by regional mediation, is the sole way to decrease mistrust and foster better understanding between the neighbors.
The talks are expected to lead to improvements in the political, security and economic relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
