Pakistan Fires Over 100 Rockets into Kunar Province During Ceasefire
KUNAR, Afghanistan (Afghan Verified) -- Officials from Kunar province's Information and Culture Directorate reported that Pakistan's military regime fired more than 100 rockets into the districts of Nari and Manora near the imaginary Durand Line during a ceasefire period over the past three days.
Ziaurrahman Spin Ghar, head of information for the directorate, said the attacks caused financial damages to civilian homes but no human casualties.
Local officials in Kunar stated that nearly 7,500 families from areas near the imaginary Durand Line have been displaced by the sporadic firings and are now living in tents along the Kunar River.
In neighboring Nuristan province, Pakistani forces shot and killed a health worker and his son in the Baghicha area of Kamdesh district during the ceasefire, according to witnesses and family members. A ToloNews reporter attended the funeral of the victims.
Najiballah Intizar, wife of the martyred health worker, said Pakistani forces heavily targeted their vehicle with gunfire. "When we got down from the vehicle, they shot at us again; in this shooting my husband and one of my sons were martyred," she recounted.
Faridun Samim, spokesman for the Nuristan governor, said Pakistani forces are blocking routes, preventing vehicles and ambulances from passing, and shooting at anyone attempting to travel. Residents of Kamdesh and Bargmatal districts reported facing serious problems due to closed roads and being targeted by gunfire during travel.
One local resident said: "Anyone who goes to Nuristan from this route is targeted by shooting and is not allowed to pass."
