Over 60,000 Mountain Saplings Planted on Kabul's Muslim Qala Hill
Several cultural and volunteer organizations have planted seeds of more than 60,000 mountain saplings on the Muslim Qala hill as part of Kabul’s Green Belt project.
Officials from these organizations stated that the initiative has been implemented in 16 provinces so far. Haseebullah Hanif Ghafouri, head of one volunteer organization, said the seeds include seven types of saplings, such as mountain almonds, pistachio, pine, and a type of tree called Dolana Dana, whose seeds were imported from Tajikistan.
Sayed Riazuddin, head of a cultural organization in Kabul, noted that the planting efforts extend beyond Kabul to 16 provinces.
Kabul residents have welcomed the efforts, stating they contribute to greening the country. One resident said, “We agree that our area should become greener so that we can benefit from it.”
The initiative comes as Afghanistan has been identified in recent years as a highly vulnerable country to climate change, with experts emphasizing the need to strengthen environmental protection and greening efforts.
