Opposition Figure Farida Kabul Alleges Increase in Taliban Political Arrests and Asset Seizures

Opposition figure Farida Kabul has publicly criticized the Taliban for what she described as an escalation in political arrests and the confiscation of property belonging to dissenters. Kabul stated that the movement’s strategy of targeting the relatives of politicians and exiled activists would not succeed in silencing the Afghan people.

Kabul referenced her own experience, noting that the Taliban previously seized her residence and other assets. She also reported that three of her associates were detained by security forces but were released after several days. According to her statements, the ongoing pressure campaign extends beyond individual activists to include their families.

Taliban sources have acknowledged the group’s policy regarding domestic opponents, confirming that authorities intend to confiscate the homes and financial assets of prominent critics. Reports indicate that a list of targeted individuals includes several well-known political and military figures, such as Ahmad Zia Masoud, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Yasin Zia, Rahmatullah Nabil, Din Mohammad Jarat, Sami Sadat, General Gul Haidar, and Atta Muhammad Noor.

The administration’s approach toward domestic opposition continues to involve a combination of security measures, detentions, and property seizures. Kabul warned that these actions would not deter public dissent or resolve underlying political grievances. The statements highlight ongoing tensions between the ruling authorities and opposition figures operating both inside and outside the country.
