Oman Reaffirms Commitment to Safe and Toll-Free Passage Through Strait of Hormuz

Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi has reaffirmed the Sultanate’s commitment to safe and toll-free passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The statement was made after a series of meetings with Iranian officials that focused on maritime issues and respect for international law.

During the visit to Oman, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf engaged in talks with their Omani hosts. The agenda included the recent Iran-US memorandum of understanding and its implications for the Strait of Hormuz.

The underlying Iran-US negotiations were held in Switzerland. Facilitated by Pakistan and Qatar, the talks dealt with sanctions, regional security, and maritime stability. They produced encouraging results along with an agreement to continue with technical negotiations in the future.

Ghalibaf stated that the Strait of Hormuz would not return to its pre-war status despite the diplomatic progress achieved so far. Albusaidi for his part emphasized the necessity of adhering to international law to guarantee free commercial navigation for all.
