North Korea Tests Cluster Warhead, Advanced Weapons Defying UN Sanctions

PYONGYANG (Afghan Verified) — North Korea conducted tests of advanced weapons, including a cluster warhead for the Hwasongpho-11-Ka tactical surface-to-surface missile, an electromagnetic weapon, carbon-fiber bombs and a mobile short-range air defense system.

The tests verified the combat effectiveness of the tactical ballistic missile warhead, North Korea's state media reported. Military officials said the Hwasongpho-11-Ka missile with cluster warhead can strike and devastate targets across up to seven hectares.

Officials described the electromagnetic system and carbon-fiber bombs as "special strategic assets."

The developments violate UN Security Council resolutions prohibiting ballistic missile technologies, analysts said. The tests signal North Korea's intent to strengthen its nuclear deterrent and conventional weapons amid heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
