New Chapter in Afghanistan Club Football League as Clubs Take Responsibility for Matches

Ahead of the sixth season of Afghanistan's club football competitions, coinciding with the national representative's participation in Asian tournaments, significant changes have been implemented in the league's organizational structure.

These changes entrust the responsibility for organizing the league to the clubs themselves. Clubs will determine match schedules and venues across provinces through inter-club agreements, aiming to enhance coordination, flexibility, and order in competitions.

Under the proposed plan, the league will consist of two stages: an outbound round over 33 days in one province and a return round over 33 days in another province. A one-month mid-season break is included for team rest and preparation.

Four club representatives have been selected as an executive board to coordinate with the Afghanistan Football Federation on details. The board plans to schedule the outbound round before the AFC Challenge League playoff and the return round afterward, ensuring the national team is in optimal condition for Asian competitions.

In the near future, a formal "League Organization" is expected to be established to provide a more structured and professional management for domestic competitions. This shift toward club-led execution and a dedicated league body marks a potential new era for Afghanistan's club football.
