Ministry of Public Works Directs Provincial Teams to Ensure Road Access Amid Heavy Rains
KABUL — Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Works has instructed all provincial directorates to prepare for ongoing heavy rains and floods to ensure safe public travel.
Provincial teams must take immediate actions to reopen major roads, highways and streets blocked by floods or landslides, according to the ministry.
Spokesperson Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas said the instructions aim to keep roads open for traffic to the extent possible during such weather events.
The Ministry of Public Works, under Minister Mullah Mohammad Issa Thani, has directed provincial teams to maintain full readiness for safe road access amid rains and floods, assuring citizens that highways and roads will remain open.
Technical teams are prepared to quickly clear blockages from floods or landslides and have been dispatched to survey and repair road sections damaged by recent rains and floods, a ministry press release said, as reported by RTA.
Both Hurriyat and RTA reported the ministry's directives on April 2, with Hurriyat attributing the announcement to spokesperson Haqshenas and RTA linking it to Minister Thani's guidance.
