Ministry of Agriculture Focuses on Farm Mechanization and National Self-Sufficiency

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has outlined new initiatives aimed at modernizing farming practices and expanding domestic production capacity. Deputy Minister Maulawi Sadr Azam Osmani announced the measures during the Farmer's Fair and 34th Exhibition of Agricultural and Livestock Products.

Osmani stated that the ministry is actively implementing practical steps to introduce mechanization across the agricultural sector. He noted that these efforts are designed to increase crop yields while reducing the physical burden on farmers. The official emphasized that modernizing equipment and techniques remains a priority for the ministry's long-term development strategy.

In addition to crop production, the ministry is focusing on expanding livestock facilities to support rural communities and strengthen the broader agricultural economy. Osmani highlighted that achieving national self-sufficiency in both agriculture and livestock is a central objective. He added that the government intends to shift the balance of trade by prioritizing domestic output and increasing agricultural exports over imports.

The announcements were delivered to attendees at the annual exhibition, which serves as a platform for showcasing local farming innovations and livestock products. Ministry officials indicated that sustained investment in agricultural infrastructure and modern farming tools will be essential to meeting national food security targets and fostering economic stability in rural provinces.
