Laghman Electricity Directorate Collects 360 Million Afghanis in Annual Revenue
The Laghman Electricity Directorate has collected approximately 360 million Afghanis in revenue over the past year, depositing the funds into the government treasury.
Shahabuddin Yaser, head of the directorate, said the revenue came from collecting fees, connecting new subscribers and installing transformers in previously unserved areas of the province.
The directorate currently supplies 11 megawatts of electricity to around 25,000 subscribers in Laghman province. Yaser said 100 megawatts are needed to fully address electricity shortages, including for factories and workshops.
He added that serious efforts are underway to resolve the shortages and that the required electricity will be provided in full in the future.
