Kazakhstan Grain and Flour Exports to Afghanistan Rise 58 Percent in Eight Months

Kazakhstan’s grain and flour exports to Afghanistan have increased substantially over the past eight months. The total volume grew by 58 percent, moving from 1.3 million tons to 2 million tons. This development comes amid broader trends in regional trade.

The Ministry of Agriculture in Kazakhstan has linked the rise to increased demand from Afghanistan and other countries in Central Asia. Stable logistics corridors have also played a role in facilitating these shipments. Data from the national railway company underpins the reported export volumes.

Similar patterns of growth have been observed in exports to other nations. Shipments to Uzbekistan expanded by 38 percent, climbing from 3.6 million tons to 5 million tons. Exports to Kyrgyzstan saw a 50 percent increase, advancing from 312,000 tons to 474,000 tons. Meanwhile, exports to Turkmenistan rose by 44 percent to reach 197,000 tons.

These figures indicate a robust performance in Kazakhstan's agricultural export sector. The growth to Afghanistan stands out as particularly notable given the percentage change. Officials have emphasized the importance of reliable transportation networks in sustaining this momentum.

The past eight months have therefore marked a period of expansion for Kazakhstan's trade relations with its southern neighbors. Continued demand is expected to influence future export levels according to the statements from the ministry.
