Kabul Teachers Protest Forced Relocation Without Consultation

Teachers in Kabul issued a joint statement on Friday protesting a decision to forcibly relocate educators from educational districts in the city without prior consultation.

The teachers described the relocation as unfair and worrisome, arguing that it would increase economic pressures, psychological stress, commuting costs, family disruptions and reduce the quality of teaching. They emphasized that despite meager salaries and ongoing economic hardships, they continue to carry out their teaching responsibilities diligently.

In the statement, the educators warned that making such decisions without consulting teachers amounts to negligence and imposes undue pressure on them. They highlighted the additional burdens the relocation would place on their already challenging living conditions.

The teachers urged educational officials to seriously consider educators' living situations and responsibilities before implementing such policies. The joint statement reflects growing concerns among Kabul's teaching community over administrative decisions that overlook their input and exacerbate personal and professional difficulties.
