
Israeli Airstrikes Kill Two Palestinians in Gaza on Start of Ramadan
Israeli airstrikes coinciding with the start of Ramadan killed at least two Palestinians in Gaza.
Al Jazeera reported on Saturday, February 21, that the strikes occurred in northern and southern areas of Gaza. The total death toll since the implementation of a four-month ceasefire with Hamas has reached 614, with more than 1,000 other Palestinians wounded.
The Israeli army confirmed one of the attacks, stating that its forces killed a "fighter" who had entered Israeli territory along the border and posed an immediate threat.
The strikes took place two days after a peace delegation associated with Donald Trump held its first meeting on the reconstruction, security, and administration of the Gaza Strip. Trump announced that nine countries had pledged a total of $7 billion for Gaza's reconstruction, in addition to $10 billion in U.S. aid. This funding falls well short of the estimated $70 billion required for rebuilding Gaza.
