Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Iran to Begin Renovation of Border Markers
The practical process of renovating and modernizing border signs and markers between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran is set to begin soon.
A delegation led by Maulvi Noor Rahman Nasrat, head of operations at Afghanistan's Ministry of National Defense, met with an Iranian delegation headed by Dr. Ezzatullah Hamti, head of border legal affairs at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Islam Qala, Herat province. The two sides discussed the initiation and implementation of this process.
Nasrat stated that security has now been established by the grace of God, and political relations between the two countries are better than ever, providing an opportune moment to start the practical renovation of border signs and markers. He added that modernizing border markers is a fundamental need and important principle that will serve the interests of both countries and play a key role in resolving ambiguities between the two sides.
Dr. Hamti said Iran is committed to principles of good neighborliness and views the current security and independent system in Afghanistan as an opportunity to implement the renovation and modernization of border signs and markers between the two countries.
The Afghan delegation included representatives from the ministries of national defense, foreign affairs, agriculture, irrigation and livestock, borders and tribal affairs, the General Directorate of Intelligence, and the Administration Office, along with several officials and technical teams.
