Iran's Pezeshkian says Strait of Hormuz open to all but enemies after Trump ultimatum

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all countries except aggressors and enemies of Iran.

In a message posted on Sunday, Pezeshkian warned the United States and Israel against further escalation, saying any notion of removing Iran from the map reflects desperation in the face of a resilient nation. He added that threats and assassinations only strengthen national unity and that external pressure has historically failed to weaken Iran.

Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran would remain united and respond decisively to any military action on the battlefield.

His remarks came after former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Tehran to fully reopen the strait or face strikes on key infrastructure.

The comments occur amid escalating tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel, with ongoing strikes reported across the region. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global energy chokepoint through which a significant share of the world's oil passes, raising concerns about any potential disruption to international markets and regional stability.
