Iran’s Ghalibaf Says Actions, Not Assurances, Will Decide Any Deal

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Iran will base any deal with the United States solely on concrete actions rather than promises. He emphasized that the country does not trust assurances or guarantees and will judge any agreement by actions on the ground.

The remarks come as indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran continue. Qatar is mediating the talks, which seek to extend a ceasefire and reach a broader political understanding. The discussions also cover Iran's nuclear program.

United States President Donald Trump is preparing to make a final decision on an arrangement to extend the ceasefire and advance talks on the nuclear programme. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said at the Shangri-La Dialogue that the United States is prepared to resume military strikes against Iran if diplomacy fails.

Iran's delegation is seeking the release of frozen assets and sanctions relief. A key sticking point remains Iran's enriched uranium stockpile. Officials from the United States, including President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, have expressed preference for a stronger negotiated settlement. They have also maintained readiness for military action should diplomacy fail. Qatar and Oman are facilitating the talks, which focus on sanctions relief and uranium stockpiles.

Ghalibaf highlighted Iran's strength and preparedness for confrontation during the ongoing negotiations.
