Iranian Foreign Ministry Denies Recent Talks with United States
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that no dialogue has taken place between Tehran and the United States, contrary to recent claims by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The ministry described Trump's assertions of 'constructive' talks as efforts to reduce energy prices and gain time to advance military plans.
Iranian officials emphasized that some regional countries have proposed initiatives to reduce tensions, but Tehran does not consider itself the initiator of the crisis. They said all requests for de-escalation should be directed to Washington.
The statement followed Iran's warnings against attacks on regional energy infrastructure. In response, Trump ordered a postponement of potential strikes on Iran's energy facilities.
Trump had announced a conditional five-day halt to U.S. attacks on Iranian energy facilities. In a post on Truth Social, he wrote: 'Based on the tone and content of these deep, detailed, and constructive conversations—which will continue throughout the week—I have instructed the War Department to postpone any military attacks against Iran's power plants and energy infrastructure for five days; conditional on the success of the meetings and ongoing talks.'
