Iranian Foreign Minister Warns Israel's Attacks on Oil Facilities Will Cause Long-Term Health Damages
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Israel's attacks on the country's oil storage facilities will confront Iranian citizens with long-term health and welfare damages.
In a post on X, Araghchi wrote: "Soil and groundwater pollution can have consequences that last for generations."
He described the attacks as "a violation of international law and an example of a crime against the environment," emphasizing that "Israel must be punished for its war crimes."
Araghchi did not mention the United States in the statement, despite reports that the attacks are joint operations involving the air forces and armies of the U.S. and Israel, now in their third week.
U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that the strikes have killed Iran's first and second leaders and destroyed almost all command centers, military facilities, missile and drone capabilities, mine-laying boats and the navy.
In response, Iran has conducted missile and drone attacks on U.S. bases in the region and parts of Israel since the beginning of the assaults on its territory.
These Iranian strikes have provoked anger from Gulf states' governments, who described them as a violation of their airspace.
