Iranian Foreign Minister Condemns Israeli Strikes on Tehran Fuel Depots as Violation of International Law

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Israeli strikes on fuel storage facilities in Tehran constitute a serious violation of international law and could lead to long-term environmental damage.

In a post on X on Monday, Araghchi described the attacks as "environmental genocide." He warned that residents near the targeted facilities face serious and long-lasting health risks from toxic pollution released into the surrounding environment.

Araghchi highlighted potential contamination of soil and underground water resources, which he said could cause environmental and public health consequences affecting communities for generations.

He argued that Israel should be held accountable under international law, asserting that attacks on civilian infrastructure and environmental resources amount to potential war crimes.

The remarks come amid intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel, with both sides reporting new military strikes and retaliatory operations across the region. Regional tensions have involved the United States, which has supported Israeli operations and warned Iran against further escalation.
