International Red Cross Provided Health Services to Over Two Million Patients in Afghanistan in 2025
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Afghanistan provided health services to more than two million patients in 2025, according to its report released on Saturday.
The federation noted that Afghanistan faced multiple crises last year, including the return of migrants, natural disasters and drought. It supported and funded 128 health centers, expanding their activities. Sixty percent of those receiving health services were women and girls.
Over the past year, 13,000 people received psychosocial services, with 83 percent being women. The report stated that 926,651 people participated in health and hygiene awareness sessions, 65 percent of whom were women and girls, strengthening community knowledge on diseases, health and hygiene practices.
More than 165,000 people received cash assistance, with 3.7 million Swiss francs allocated to help families meet urgent needs such as food, health services and shelter. Additionally, over 222,000 people benefited from shelter assistance, particularly at key border crossings in Herat, Nangarhar and Kandahar, where safe temporary accommodations were provided for returnees and vulnerable families.
The United Nations has warned that Afghanistan will continue to face one of the world's largest humanitarian crises in 2026.
