Indonesia Prepares to Send Thousands of Troops for Gaza Stabilization Force Role
Indonesia's Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that Jakarta will assume the role of deputy commander of operations in the proposed Global Stabilization Force for Gaza. He said the deployment will occur in stages across approximately five phases, with the total number of forces potentially reaching 20,000 or more.
Sugiono explained: "I think this process will be done gradually... It is estimated that the total number of forces deployed there will be close to 20,000 or more."
The Indonesian army spokesperson added that the country is preparing 1,000 soldiers for possible deployment to Gaza by early April. These troops will form part of a multinational force aimed at maintaining stability.
Sugiono emphasized Indonesia's conditions: "We will not carry out offensive military operations, we will not disarm, and we will not implement what is called demilitarization. What we will do is protect civilians on both sides and participate in humanitarian efforts."
The Global Stabilization Force is a proposed multinational security deployment outlined in a peace plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump in late September 2025 to end the Gaza war, focusing on security and reconstruction support.
According to the force's commander, five countries have committed troops so far: Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, and Albania.
