IAEA Chief Grossi Sees Possible Agreement with Iran on Nuclear Inspections in Coming Days
Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, stated that the agency and Iran are likely to reach an agreement in the coming days on inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities.
Speaking Friday at the Munich Security Conference, Grossi said the IAEA had returned to Iran after attacks last year on its nuclear sites and resumed talks. He described the dialogue between the two sides as "incomplete, complex and very difficult," but ongoing and at a "very sensitive moment."
Grossi added that signs of progress and agreement could emerge in the next few days, rather than weeks or months.
This comes amid past tensions. In June, following Israeli attacks on Iran and subsequent U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites, Tehran suspended cooperation with the IAEA. Iran signed an agreement in September to resume cooperation, though it halted again due to disagreements.
