
Herat Traders Donate 15 Million Afghanis in Humanitarian Aid to Iran
HERAT, Afghanistan — Traders in Herat province donated 15 million afghanis in cash as humanitarian aid to support people in neighboring Iran amid current conditions there. The funds, collected by businesspeople and the private sector, were handed over to the Iranian consulate in Herat on Saturday.
Mohammad Younis Qazizada, director of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment in Herat, confirmed the donation. He stated that efforts are ongoing to collect additional aid for Iran.
Iranian Consul General Ali Reza Marhamati in Herat received the contribution and expressed gratitude to the Afghan traders for their solidarity. Marhamati noted that trade between Afghanistan and Iran continues normally. He also highlighted Iran's interest in rebuilding schools and healthcare centers, potentially with Afghan assistance.
The gesture underscores cross-border economic ties and humanitarian cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
