German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called for strengthening partnership and dialogue with Beijing during his visit to China.

According to a Reuters report cited by RTA, the trip aims to improve relations between Germany and China. These relations have faced tensions and challenges due to the significant increase in Germany's trade deficit with China, the world's second-largest economy.

Merz, during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, emphasized deepening the "comprehensive strategic partnership" between the two countries.

He described China as Germany's largest trading partner last year and stressed the need to expand economic cooperation.
