The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) called for an immediate halt to hostilities between Afghan and Pakistani security forces, warning that continued tensions would exacerbate the dire humanitarian situation. In a statement on March 3, UNAMA reported that from the evening of February 26 to March 2, 2026, at least 146 civilians were killed or wounded across Afghanistan, including 42 killed and 104 wounded, many women and children. These casualties stemmed from clashes along the Durand Line and airstrikes in provinces including Paktika and Nangarhar, Ariana News reported.

Pajhwok cited UN Secretary-General's spokesman Stephen Dujarric quoting UNAMA data up to March 1 showing 34 civilians killed and 89 wounded in Pakistani attacks inside Afghanistan, noting the figures were preliminary. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported around 16,400 families displaced in five provinces, with conflict restrictions hindering aid delivery and increasing vulnerability for Afghan returnees from Pakistan.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Ministry of Defense spokesman Enayatullah Khwarzmi stated at a March 3 press conference that 25 clashes occurred in the past 24 hours during Operation "Rid al-Zulm," with four Pakistani soldiers killed and 13 posts destroyed. Overall since the conflict began, he claimed 150 Pakistani soldiers killed, over 200 wounded, and 40 posts captured by Afghan forces. Afghan losses included 28 killed and 42 wounded, with three Pakistani drones downed.

Deputy Islamic Emirate spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat reported 110 civilians killed and 130 wounded, mostly women and children, due to the fighting.
