Four Arrested in Connection with Murder in Jawzjan Province

Authorities in Jawzjan province have detained four individuals in connection with the killing of Mohammad Taher, a local resident whose disappearance sparked a search operation earlier this month. The arrests were confirmed by provincial police officials following a coordinated investigation across neighboring regions.

According to Qari Abdul Sattar Halimi, the spokesperson for the Jawzjan police directorate, the suspects consist of two men and two women. Three of the detained individuals are residents of Balkh province, while the fourth is from Jawzjan. Halimi stated that all four have confessed to their involvement in the crime.

The victim had been reported missing for twelve days before authorities located his remains in Balkh province. Following forensic procedures, the body was released to his relatives for burial in Sheberghan, the provincial capital of Jawzjan.

Police officials indicated that the investigation was prompted by the victim’s prolonged absence and subsequent reports from community members. Upon apprehending the suspects, investigators secured confessions that pointed to a domestic disagreement as the primary motive behind the killing. Halimi emphasized that the case remains under active judicial review as prosecutors prepare formal charges.

The provincial police directorate has not released the names of the suspects, citing ongoing legal procedures. Authorities reiterated their commitment to resolving criminal cases through established investigative channels and urged the public to report any suspicious activity to local security offices.
