Exports Worth 181 Million Dollars Made Through Hairatan Port in Past Year
Balkh province officials report that exports of domestic products through Hairatan port reached 181 million US dollars over the past year.
The exports included agricultural products, food items and industrial goods such as steam boilers. The majority of these products were sent to regional countries, with a focus on Central Asian markets.
Haroon al-Rashid Qazi, deputy of the Balkh Province Chamber of Commerce and Investment, provided the export figures. He noted the port's contribution to trade with neighboring regions.
Local traders welcomed the increase in exports. They emphasized the need for more facilities and reduced commercial obstacles to accelerate and expand export activities further.
Officials from the Balkh Industry and Commerce Directorate stated that they have programs to support domestic producers and boost exports.
Hairatan port serves as a key northern commercial gateway. It contributes to Afghanistan's economic growth and revenues, according to both officials and traders in the region.
The positive export figures are seen as an important step, though stakeholders agree that addressing current challenges will help sustain momentum in the coming periods.
