Deputy Culture Minister Visits Historical Machin Khana Site in Kabul
Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Arts, recently visited the historical Machin Khana site in Kabul to inspect newly established cultural exhibitions and infrastructure projects. During the visit, officials reviewed a series of displays featuring antique items, technical equipment, and historical artifacts organized in coordination with the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation.
The site also houses a dedicated museum for military weapons, which was highlighted as part of the broader preservation efforts. A central feature of the visit was a detailed cultural and infrastructure model of Kabul, constructed by local youth in collaboration with the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation. The model provides a comprehensive representation of the city’s historical layout and urban development.
Addressing the significance of the site, Deputy Minister Azizi emphasized that historical landmarks serve as living symbols of national identity. He stressed the necessity of preserving these cultural assets while implementing sustainable management practices to ensure their long-term protection. The visit underscored ongoing efforts to document and showcase Afghanistan’s heritage through collaborative initiatives between government bodies and cultural organizations.
The Machin Khana site, recognized for its historical value, continues to be developed as a center for cultural education and public engagement. Officials noted that the newly curated exhibitions and the city model aim to provide residents and visitors with a clearer understanding of Kabul’s architectural and historical evolution.
