
Decades-Long Family Feud Resolved in Eastern Kunar Province
A 57-year dispute between two families in the Sah Bandi area of Dangam District, Kunar Province, has been formally resolved following mediation by local officials and tribal elders. The long-standing conflict, which spanned more than half a century, resulted in two deaths and three injuries over its duration.
Mawlawi Umryasar, the governor of Dangam District, confirmed the settlement to reporters. He stated that representatives from the families of Shumoz Khan, Saida Muhammad, and Teacher Tala Muhammad participated in the reconciliation process. The mediation efforts were coordinated by district authorities alongside community elders, who facilitated dialogue between the parties to address historical grievances and establish a formal truce.
Following the negotiations, both families publicly accepted the terms of the peace agreement. They pledged to end all hostilities and maintain peaceful, brotherly relations moving forward. The resolution marks the conclusion of a prolonged local dispute, with officials emphasizing the role of community-led mediation in addressing historical conflicts.
District authorities noted that the agreement was finalized through structured discussions and that both sides have committed to upholding the terms. The settlement is expected to reinforce local stability and provide a framework for resolving similar longstanding disputes in the province through established traditional and administrative channels.
