CSTO Secretary General Meets with Kyrgyz President to Discuss Regional Security and Afghanistan

The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Talatbek Masadykov, held a meeting with the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, on April 15 in the city of Bishkek. The primary purpose of the meeting was to address concerns related to regional security, with a particular emphasis on the current situation in Afghanistan.

During their talks, the two officials highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and stability in Afghanistan. They expressed support for the country's development under its current leadership in Kabul. The CSTO has been working on various security initiatives, including targeted programs specifically designed for the border area between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

In addition to the focus on Afghanistan, the meeting also touched upon the stability in the Middle East. There was a discussion on the cautious optimism surrounding the negotiations between Iran and the United States.

The leaders also took the time to review the implementation of decisions that were made during the CSTO session in November 2025. They made preparations for upcoming CSTO meetings and discussed the organization of joint military exercises that are to be conducted later this year.

Furthermore, plans for an international conference on collective security architecture were discussed. This conference is scheduled to take place in Moscow on April 27.
