Senior United States officials have briefed lawmakers on the possibility of a military attack on Iran, according to a Bloomberg report citing informed sources.

The session, held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, included Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe. Participants comprised Republican and Democratic leaders of the House and Senate intelligence committees, as well as majority and minority leaders of both chambers.

After the briefing, Sen. Mark Warner, the senior Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, stated that the president is obligated to clarify the country's goals and ways to protect US interests in the region for lawmakers.

President Donald Trump has warned that if no agreement is reached with Iran, he will consider multiple military options, though he prefers reaching a deal.

Separately, the CIA has republished its guidelines in Persian to provide Iranians with the safest methods for contacting the agency and sharing information.
