Atta Mohammad Noor Calls on Taliban to End Violence After Shooting of Former Afghan MP in Iran
Atta Mohammad Noor reacted to the shooting of Karamuddin Razazadeh, a former member of parliament from Ghor province, by urging the Taliban to abandon "assassination, violence, crime, and bloodshed."
Noor did not directly attribute the attack to the Taliban but sharply criticized them, stating, "Do not invite or force us into war, struggle, and bloodshed." In a post on X, he wrote: "Let's distance ourselves from the path of violence and do not push the country further towards confrontation and crisis. Afghanistan needs rationality, tolerance, and an end to bloodshed more than ever."
Sources in Iran told Amu TV that Razazadeh was targeted by unidentified armed men in Karaj on Tuesday, 5 Hut. The attacker, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on Razazadeh before fleeing. Two bullets struck Razazadeh, who is in critical condition and receiving treatment at a hospital in Iran.
The incident follows a previous attack in Iran in which Gen. Akramuddin Suriq, an anti-Taliban commander from the former government, was killed by armed assailants.
Neither Iranian officials nor Taliban spokespeople have commented on the assassination attempt.
