
Armed Men Claiming Taliban Affiliation Detained After Home Invasion in Badghis
Local sources report that three armed men claiming affiliation with the Taliban were detained following a home invasion in Qala-e-Naw, the provincial capital of Badghis. The suspects reportedly entered a residential property in District 1 with the intent to commit robbery.
The targeted residence belongs to Dr. Ghulam Sakhi Hanifi. According to local accounts, the armed individuals assaulted and threatened members of the household, including women and the doctor, while demanding cash and gold. The commotion drew the attention of nearby residents, who quickly gathered outside the property and contacted security personnel.
Taliban security forces arrived at the scene to secure the area. One suspect was apprehended inside the house, while two others were detained shortly afterward. During initial questioning, the detainees reportedly stated they were Taliban members from the Ab Kamari district.
Taliban authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or confirmed the suspects’ claimed affiliations. The individuals remain in custody as security officials continue their investigation into the reported robbery and assault.
