Ancient Buddhist Site Discovered in Laghman Province

Officials in Laghman province have announced the discovery of an ancient archaeological site located within the Qarghu district. The site was identified at the foot of Torghara, specifically in the area near City No. 7.

The discovery is believed to date back to the Buddhist period. Mohammad Yaqub, the Director of Culture and Tourism, and Molvi Abdul Noor Rasouli, the Head of the Department of Information and Culture, confirmed the find, noting that the site contains various historical artifacts and structures. Among the remnants are carved statues, niches, and old walls.

The provincial authorities have stated that the site is of significant historical and cultural value. Consequently, protection efforts are currently being implemented to secure the area and prevent any potential damage to the ruins.

The Department of Information and Culture has indicated that they plan to conduct further archaeological research and detailed studies at the location. These efforts are intended to provide a deeper understanding of the site's history and its significance within the broader context of the region's ancient heritage.
