Afghan Youth Football Captain Leaves National Team Camp Over Poor Conditions

Afghanistan International|

Jawid Nozari, captain of Afghanistan's youth national football team, left the senior national team's training camp in Kabul due to inadequate facilities and unsuitable conditions. In a Facebook post, Nozari announced his decision to step away from national team games until conditions improve.

Nozari stated: "I was invited to my country's national team with pride and wore the national team jersey with love and hope as always. I thought this time the conditions would be better and more professional; but when I faced lack of facilities, lack of proper nutrition, and conditions not worthy of a national team player again, my heart really broke." He emphasized that national players deserve at least basic facilities and added: "With all the love I have for my dear people, until the conditions are provided, I resign from participating in national games."

Nozari's announcement has sparked widespread reactions among fans and experts. Football expert and UEFA instructor Ali Askar Lali addressed an open letter to officials of the Afghanistan Football Federation. Lali wrote: "While images of your smiles next to the new Brazilian coach, Jose Antonio Nogeira, fill social media pages, a few steps from your meeting rooms, a disaster called the Kabul camp is destroying the motivation of national players."

Lali described Nozari's withdrawal as a reflection of broader discontent, questioning why basic facilities were not provided despite the player list being finalized. He portrayed it as the voice of many players unwilling to continue under current management.
