Afghan Youth Boxer Mojtaba Heydari Continues Intensive Training After Missing Thailand Qualifier
KABUL (Afghan Verified) — Seventeen-year-old Mojtaba Heydari, a member of Afghanistan's national youth boxing team, is conducting intensive training for upcoming international events despite missing a key qualifier in Thailand this month.
Heydari was unable to attend the Thailand competitions due to a lack of budget from the Afghanistan Sports Administration. He has continued his preparation at his own expense, maintaining regular and rigorous sessions.
The boxer began training seven years ago and has been part of the national boxing team for the past four years. Heydari has earned two medals in international competitions held in Russia and China, along with more than 10 medals in domestic events.
Despite the setback, Heydari expressed determination, stating he has never been discouraged. He aims to win world medals and raise the flag of Afghanistan.
Heydari is recognized among boxing enthusiasts as a promising athlete with a strong record in youth and junior competitions. Previously, some national athletes have called for the government to address ongoing issues and irregularities affecting sports.
