Afghan Returnee Launches Home-Based Wedding Setup Business in Kabul

Monis Nazari, an Afghan woman who recently returned to Kabul after living in Iran for twenty-two years, has established a home-based enterprise focused on designing and organizing traditional wedding nikah dastarkhwan setups and related ceremonial arrangements. The venture aims to generate household income while preserving a cultural practice that has gained renewed interest among local families.

Nazari said the business concept draws directly from her thirteen years of professional experience decorating wedding venues and preparing ceremonial items while living abroad. Operating from her residence, the service accommodates between fifty and sixty guests per event. Four months after its initial launch, two couples have successfully utilized the setup for their wedding ceremonies.

Nazari stated that the project is fully supported by her family and serves as a practical model for home-based employment opportunities for women in the capital. She noted that the initiative allows her to apply specialized skills acquired overseas to meet growing local demand for traditional wedding arrangements.

Looking ahead, Nazari plans to expand the operation into a dedicated garden venue equipped for photography and videography services. She stated that the future expansion would allow the business to host larger gatherings and offer a more comprehensive range of wedding-related services to clients across Kabul.
