Afghan Officials and Experts Discuss Reopening Embassy in Kuwait

Afghan diplomatic officials and international relations experts are advancing efforts to reopen Afghanistan’s embassy in Kuwait, a move aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and reducing the country’s diplomatic isolation. The initiative aligns with broader diplomatic outreach by the Islamic Emirate to activate missions across multiple regions.

The acting head of the Afghan embassy in Indonesia recently met with the Kuwaiti ambassador to discuss expanding bilateral relations and the potential reopening of the diplomatic mission in Kuwait. Sohil Shahin, the acting head of the Afghan embassy in Doha, confirmed that Afghan diplomatic posts in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates are currently operational. He noted that authorities are preparing to activate additional missions in other Gulf states, with Kuwait identified as a priority.

International relations experts Wahid Fagiri and Najibullah Shomal stated that restoring a formal diplomatic presence in Kuwait would help reduce Afghanistan’s international isolation. They added that the move could facilitate expanded political dialogue and economic cooperation between the two nations.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, previously announced that the foreign ministry has activated diplomatic missions in more than forty countries. Officials indicate that the discussions with Kuwaiti representatives are part of a sustained strategy to broaden Afghanistan’s diplomatic network and foster regional engagement.
