Access to X Restricted in Parts of Afghanistan, Sources Say

Source: Amu TV|

Sources told Amu TV that access to the social network X has been restricted in Afghanistan for the past few days. They said the platform has been unusable without VPNs in parts of the country, including Kabul, over the last three days.

The Taliban have not commented on the restrictions on X. Previously, sources from the Ministry of Communications under Taliban administration told Amu TV that the ministry had imposed restrictions on citizens' use of Instagram and Facebook. The Taliban had also previously banned the game Pubg in the country.

These restrictions on X come amid ongoing border clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan that have continued for more than 10 nights. During this period, Pakistani forces bombed parts of Afghanistan, including Bagram airbase and several other military sites in Kabul, as well as Taliban corps headquarters in Nangarhar and Kandahar.

The Taliban confirmed the airstrike on Bagram airbase. However, sources previously told Amu TV that the Taliban had banned domestic media from covering military centers and sites targeted by Pakistan.

The Taliban have not issued any official statements on these recent restrictions and bans on media and social networks.
