708 Families Return to Afghanistan Yesterday as Refugee Influx Accelerates
KABUL — The return of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries has accelerated with the arrival of spring, officials announced.
The High Commissioner for Solutions to Refugee Problems stated that 708 families, totaling 3,902 members, returned to Afghanistan yesterday via the Torkham, Spin Boldak, and Islam Qala border crossings. Of these, 645 families comprising 3,504 members arrived through Torkham.
The secretary of the commission confirmed the returns occurred via Torkham, Spin Boldak, and Islam Qala.
In addition, 1,064 recently returned families were transported to their homes, while assistance was provided to 872 families.
The High Commissioner highlighted the ongoing series of returnee arrivals gaining momentum amid seasonal changes, underscoring the commission's efforts in managing the influx and supporting reintegration.
