Law enforcement authorities in eastern Nangarhar province have detained 28 individuals on suspicion of drug trafficking over the past week. According to the provincial police headquarters, the arrests were made as part of ongoing operations targeting the illicit purchase and sale of narcotics in the region.

The seized inventory included 4,958 Zikab tablets, 1,141 K tablets, 40 grams of hashish, 37 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 14 grams of opium, and 2 grams of heroin. Police officials stated that the materials were recovered alongside the detainees during coordinated raids across multiple districts.
Following their apprehension, the suspects underwent preliminary questioning. Authorities reported that all 28 individuals have confessed to their involvement in drug-related activities. The provincial police headquarters confirmed that the detainees will remain in custody while initial investigations are finalized. Once the preliminary phase is complete, the cases and the accused will be transferred to the relevant judicial organs for formal legal proceedings.
Drug trafficking remains a persistent challenge in Afghanistan, with provincial security forces regularly conducting operations to disrupt supply networks and apprehend those involved in the trade. The Nangarhar police have emphasized their continued commitment to enforcing narcotics laws and maintaining public security across the province.
