Taliban-controlled media reported that a water supply network in Qaisar district of Faryab province has become operational.

Bakhtar News Agency, under Taliban control, stated on Tuesday, 28 Dalu, that the network provides clean water to 250 families in the Bazaarjay area of Qaisar district. The project cost 155,833 dollars and was apparently funded by Norway.

The report from Hasht-e Subh comes amid ongoing water access challenges in Afghanistan. The UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) announced the previous day the start of a water supply project for 160 families in northeastern Kabul.

According to UN agencies, eight out of every 10 people in Afghanistan drink contaminated water.
