2.2 Million Tons of Goods Transported via Afghanistan-Uzbekistan Railway in 2025
Uzbek officials stated that total cargo transfers between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan reached 2.6 million tons in 2025, with 2.2 million tons moved via the railway line.
Javalon Vakhobov, deputy advisor to the president of Uzbekistan and executive director of the Central Asia International Institute, met with Mohammad Es-haq Sahibzada, deputy of the Taliban's Ministry of Public Works for railways affairs, in Kabul. Vakhobov, who traveled to Kabul, said the discussions focused on railway development projects, regional connectivity, technical cooperation, and investments in infrastructure to strengthen transit and commercial corridors.
Vakhobov described the Trans-Afghan route as a strategically important corridor linking Central and South Asia, emphasizing the advancement of regional railway initiatives with Afghanistan's participation.
