KAPISA, Afghanistan -- Zahra Mohammadi, a 17-year-old girl living with paralysis in Afghanistan's central Kapisa province, has taken up painting and drawing despite her physical limitations, using her art to inspire other girls to pursue their ambitions.

Mohammadi creates her artwork from a small room in her family home. With assistance from her brother, she moves to her work table to practice, saying the activity has given her confidence and purpose.

"I want girls, not only in Afghanistan but everywhere, whether their conditions are better or worse than mine, to never lose hope," Mohammadi said. "They should work and develop their talents."

She expressed hope for additional support to further develop her skills and noted that she studies other subjects alongside her painting.

Mohammadi's family describes her as determined and resilient, emphasizing that she refuses to let her condition define her future. Confined to a wheelchair, she continues pursuing both her education and artistic goals.

Her story highlights perseverance amid personal challenges, offering a message of encouragement to young girls facing hardships.
