Russia launched a large-scale airstrike targeting Ukraine's energy facilities, including power plants and electricity distribution networks, amid severe winter cold.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the nighttime attack involved more than 400 drones and around 40 missiles. He remarked that Russia could have pursued genuine diplomacy but instead opted for another assault.

Zelenskyy emphasized, "It is very important that all those who support the trilateral negotiations respond to this. Moscow should not be able to use the cold as a tool of pressure against Ukraine."

He further noted that U.S. President Donald Trump has set June as the final deadline for an agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

After nearly four years of war between Moscow and Kyiv, Ukraine's energy sector, already damaged by previous Russian strikes and conflict-related destruction, faces collapse exacerbated by the harsh winter conditions.
