Iranian authorities executed five prisoners, including one Afghan citizen, at Qezel Hesar prison in Karaj, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

The Afghan national executed was Ahmad Farhad Heydari, originally from Herat province. He had been arrested six years prior and sentenced to death by Iran's judiciary for premeditated murder. Hengaw reported that four of the prisoners were executed on the 8th of Dalu and one on the 18th of Jadi.

Hengaw stated that Iran has sharply increased executions of Afghan prisoners since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan. The organization reported that Iran executed at least 1,858 people in 2025, including 85 Afghan prisoners.
