Azerbaijan Releases 14 Afghan Nationals from Prisons

Azerbaijan has released 14 Afghan nationals from its prisons, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday.
The ministry stated that the release occurred following efforts by Afghanistan’s embassy in Baku. It expressed appreciation to Azerbaijan and relevant authorities for their cooperation and humanitarian action, and reaffirmed that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will continue to follow up on cases of Afghan prisoners.
Khaama Press reported that the release followed an order by the Azerbaijani leadership, with reasons for the arrests not disclosed. Taliban authorities indicated that some released citizens have already returned home, while legal procedures continue for transferring the remaining detainees back to Afghanistan.
Ariana News attributed the ministry's statement directly to its announcement, while Khaama Press described the ministry as Taliban-run. No further details on the identities or specific charges of the prisoners were provided in either report.
